You no good %&^$&$#!!!

Do you swear?  Use foul language?  Of course you do.  Maybe not often, maybe not out loud, but I'd bet that most everyone on the planet has felt the need to spit out a not so friendly epithet or two, whether you acted on it or not.

The reason we hold back on such language, if and when we do, is because it's not only socially unacceptable in most situations, but also holds the connotation that the constant use of profanity indicates either a lower IQ or a lack of higher education, or both, and nobody wants to be called, you know... stupid.

Well hold on there for just a second, because some psychologists are changing up the rules, and are now deciding that profanity can have quite a list of benefits.  Long term studies of the brain and emotions seem to be saying so.

Now, instead of categorizing you as a crude individual, some 'creative' verbiage can actually be a sign of higher intelligence.  It seems the more 'big' words you know, the more crass ones you'll know also, because you just know more words as a whole.  It's like a numbers game.  The more money you have, the richer you are.  The more words you know, the more intelligent you are.

How about honesty?  Can profanity be a sign that you are more honest than others?  Apparently so, and we all seem to know it.  Have you ever heard, after person A lashes out with a long stream of whatever, person B sarcastically asks "But how do you really feel?"  We've all been there, and all done it.

Creativity?  Sure, we've already touched on that.
The ability to handle pain?
What makes you feel better after stubbing your toe?  "Good golly that hurts", or "@&%&^) that hurts!!!"
And of course there is the attribute of venting anger.  Much better to spit and scowl a bit than to throw a chair at someone, no?

So there you have it, and I've got to tell you, after reading the research, I'm feeling pretty *&%*&^$ intelligent today, not to mention real %$^$^(&* creative too.
