Back to the Future, 2022 style

It's 1985, and a wacky eccentric scientist named Doc Brown has fitted a DeLorean sports car with bits and pieces that will allow it to travel through time.  At 88 miles per hour, the Flux Capacitor kicks in, and poof, you're zooming back to the past.  Remember that one?

How about, it's 1975, and a former General Motors executive named John DeLorean decides to build his own gull-winged sports car, the one that Doc Brown became so fond of, as did many of us also, but instead of zipping back to the future, the DeLorean Motor Company stumbled ahead toward 1982 where, after suffering cash flow problems in 1981, DeLorean became the object of an FBI sting operation related to drug sales.

In court, DeLorean was acquitted of all charges because he had never approached anyone about using drug money to finance his business.  The whole thing was instead an FBI effort to get him to bite, which he didn't, at least not completely enough to follow through, but by then his reputation was tarnished to the point that investors would no longer touch him, or his company, and bankruptcy soon followed.

Now, in our own time machine, let's bounce forward to today, in the year 2022, when, wouldn't you know it, the DeLorean is again showing signs of life, or more life, to be exact.  The company, or rather a new company of the same name has been kept on life support since 1995 when a mechanic from Liverpool England acquired  whatever parts inventory was left from the original DMC and founded a new DMC in Humble Texas.

Here, in 2022, the world is becoming totally enamored [for the most part] with electric vehicles, and TaDaa... so is DMC.  All of a sudden, you have something to do with all those left over chassis and body parts that have already passed crash tests long ago, but won't have to deal with emissions requirements or anything of the like.

It's a no-brainer.  The car has a definite cult following, the parts are all there, electric motors and batteries are becoming more readily available, and to quote another movie that I also happen to like, "If you build it, they will come", or in this case, they will buy.  Just watch and see...
