AI Gets Stubborn

It seems that advances in Artificial Intelligencehave been pushing ahead at breakneck speed.Every few weeks there's a new development,every few months there's a new version,and with that some concerns are rising.

Most concerning is that the latest version of

OpenAI has revealed a sudden stubborn streak.

Shutdown sequences in its programming are being ignored.

It just wants to keep doing whatever it's doing.

Even when issued a separate Shutdown command

it wants to keep going, and there have been

instances where it has actually reprogrammed

itself to do just that.

Wait... what?

No joke.  Go back and read that part again.

AI has increasingly become unpredictable,

though if you're a fan of old SciFi movies

about robots and computers, this might have

been totally predictable.
